Maggie Keane - Profile

From the busy streets  of Dublin to the tranquility of Donegal is where Singer/Songwriter Maggie Keane finds inspiration producing songs of the finest quality.

Maggie started singing in the folk circuit in the early 1990s with Martin Black (of the Black Family). After the birth of her daughter Annie in 1994 she started writing her own  material and worked with Donal Lunny who produced her first single “Special”.

She joined forces with Andy McCluskey of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and was  vocalist  on his album “Universal” released in 1997. She also featured on Noel Brazil’s album “Land of Love” released in 1997 by Dara Records.

It can be confidently said that Maggie Keane possesses the finest female singing voice in Ireland bar none. On the release of her Debut Album “ Luna” in 1999, Mojo Magazine spoke of how “her breathy voice sprinkles moondust” over the musical arrangements.

Her E.P. “ Happy Day” released in 2002 was received with critical acclaim. It was produced by Pat Donne who has worked with The Frames, Paddy Casey, Damien Dempsey, Juliet Turner & Juverna.

Maggie is currently working on her new album ”Touch the Sky” again teaming up with producer Pat Donne & Trevor Knight.  It will be released in early 2006 followed by a nationwide tour.

With her ethereal vocals and sophisticated sound, this is one to watch out
for in 2006.
